Human Grand Prix - The New Generation (Japan) ROM

Japanese version of F1 Pole Position 64.

The first Formula One title out for N64. Features 22 pilots, 11 teams and 16 racing courses based on the 1996 season, although it has not any official licenses.
The gameplay flows smoothly and the controls respond very well. The racing physics are not the best though, but still provides good challenge and fun. AI is the expected of a Formula One game: the best drivers and teams will struggle for the victory, while the lower-leveled ones will have quite a sweat to find a good position after the race. They all can (and will) suffer accidents - either engine failure, spin, crash or whatever. Weather can change, so better keep an eye for the best strategy. You can set your car at your likings, changing steering, wings, tires, gearbox etc.
There are three game modes available: World Grand Prix (the main championship where you choose a driver and take the sason round by round), Battle (a customisable single race) and Time Attack (free training).
Also, the game is customisable: not only basic things such as game level, damage and car touch, you can also rename teams, drivers and engines (once they all have fake but resembling names due to the lack of any licenses). Not only that, there's the possibility to trade the drivers between the teams, and even bring a few legends back to action, such as Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet and Alain Prost.
Even if not as realistic as Video Sytem's F1 World Grand Prix games, still worth a try.
