Game Description & Reviews:
OverviewThe third game in the SaGa series, released as Final Fantasy Legend III in North America. It is about a group of heroes that travel through time in order to avert an apocalypse.
Morrick rates this game: 5/5Although it was given the name Final Fantasy, it's not at all part of the Final Fantasy series. The series' japanese name, and future english name, is SaGa. Because of this, don't expect to see reoccuring characters or themes from the Final Fantasy series. That being said, the game is still a great game. It plays similarly to Final Fantasy, but has some unique twists in story and gameplay. One prominent feature is eating monster meat or installing robot parts, which transforms you into a monster, giving you some techniques that only monsters can use. The storyline revolves around time travel, and a dark mist that spreads across the land, creating monsters. It's a great play, I've owned the game for many few years, and it's one of my top nostalgic games to play.
James rates this game: 5/5A Millennia ago, a fierce battle was waged for control of an idyllic world known as Pureland. After much fighting, the brave warriors of Pureland were protectively sealed in their own dimension, away from the rest of the universe. This was done by means of Talon, a powerful space craft capable of traveling through both time and space. Centuries have passed and the would-be master of Pureland have managed to create a rift in the galaxy, sending the Pureland Water Entity to devour all that stands in its path. You must journey through past, present, and future to find the 13 pieces of the now-divided Talon. Only then can you save the universe from total destruction.
Mystics Apprentice rates this game: 4/5The best Final Fantasy made for the gameboy and not a bad Final Fantasy altogether.
The gameplay is more similar to one of the "real" final fantasies that you'll find for the SNES or the PS. The difficulty level is also more doable than some of its previous games and actually pretty average. It pretty much is a basic RPG with nothing that signifigant about it, or anything that truly makes this a unique RPG. The way to acquire spells is sort of unique, but nothing all that special.
The storyline is very good, especially for a game as short as this one. I was quite impressed, and found it very enjoyable. The characters were also quite memorable. And to me, an RPG is just not good unless it's got a good storyline and a cast of characters.
Overall, the game was fairly good, even for a gameboy game. I'd highly recommend it to any RPG or Final Fantasy fan.
