Wonder Momo (Japan) ROM

A super hero beatemup game developed by Namco and released in 1989. Play as an actress who just plays the character "Wonder Momo". However by fighting your way through baddies, you gain enough power to actually become "Wonder Momo" for real! It's a pretty ok beatemup.

Wonder Momo is a 2D beat em up game where players control Momo as she defeats hoards of enemies. The game is presented in the form of a stage play as the audience cheers on Momo during levels. The levels themselves are more like gauntlets as there is no platforming. However, Momo can perform jump kicks and other stylish moves. There is a boss at the end of every stage that also triggers a transformation into Wonder Momo. The game was originally released in arcades in 1987, but has since left a lasting legacy leading to several re-releases in Japan, an anime, and even a reboot by WayForward Technologies (Wonder Momo Typhoon Booster).
