Terranigma (Europe) ROM

I was completely unaware of this excellent RPG until it was featured last year (i.e. 2010) in the 'Retro Game of the Day' section.  I hereby thank those who posted reviews and screenshots of it in the past, (such as Glenn Holt); my enjoyment would have not have been possible without your efforts. 
Terranigma is the epic adventure of a flaxen-haired youth in his quest to resurrect the world, accompanied, and sometimes assisted, by a strange creature called Yomi.  Underlying this globe-trekking mission is the theme of light and dark wills shaping the planet - as set forth in the game's excellent introduction.  This motif is further developed in the course of the story, as the hero explores caves, cities, forests, deserts and dungeons whilst battling the minions of darkness, thereby providing it with a surprising degree of philosophical, even spiritual, depth.  Like many other Japanese role-playing games, it also contains a number of sombre and poignant moments, along with thoughtful observations on life and the occasional dose of humour. 
At heart, Terranigma is a single-player, action-RPG with a top-down perspective.  The main character employs half a dozen fighting techniques with the many staves he finds and wields, as he runs, jumps, climbs and swims through the game's various realms.  Weapons, items, magic, as well as a vast collection of armour, are managed through a convenient, well-designed inventory system with the aid of the ever-present Yomi.  Movement from place to place occurs on a world map which contains numerous secret locations, with their hidden treasures and challenges.  Though it is not alway evident how to progress in the storyline, intelligence and perseverance will enable the player to make his way through the game's puzzles and perils. 
The graphics are quite adequate, especially for their time: they succeed, for example, in making each of the world's cities look distinct.  The animations are well done, especially for the combat movements.  Terranigma's music is aptly suited to the game, and contains a number of delightful and memorable tunes that enhance the overall experience.  Sound effects, in contrast, are appropriate, but not particularly noteworthy. 
One the last titles for the Super Nintendo, Terranigma is a splendid swansong of a much-loved console.

Terranigma is a game where you have to go out and revive the world from it's inhabitable state. But, you first start off as a kid who is a bit of a trouble maker at the beginning from what the villagers say. Once you get to a place at the start of a game something happens, and it involves a door you can not open by pushing it. But once you figure it out how to get in there, you'll go all the way down, to encounter a floating box, once you activate it, some weird creature known flies out to greet you. But what you accidentally did is bring out a curse that frozen everything living, besides you and the elder. You'll have leave the village for the first time to go five towers to release the souls of the villagers, and revive the five major continents at the same time. There will be forces that block your way, so know how to use your weapon, which is a spear. After completing the towers, you'll be sent off the earth, to restore earth and it's former beauty, by reviving planets, then animals, and then humans. And some of the choices you make towards the human towns, will effect the towns growth and technology as well.
