Bloodblade07 rates this game: 4/5This game takes place in Disneyland's Magic Kingdom. Goofy lost the big key to open the gate. Then he lost six small keys to open the castle gates. To retrieve the key you need to complete a series of mini games.
Some of the mini games are fun, like the Rocky Railroad cart ride thingy. Other games are really annoying, like the ghost one. I almost won, suddenly Mickey Mouse pops up saying "Time Out!"... That's it...
The graphics are good, too. You could tell what's what, and who's who. The weird thing is that you play as some weird cowboy guy. And when you go north, east, or west from the castle there's no sidewalk, just dull, boring grass, with mini game huts. Another thing is that the whole thing looks so alone... And creepy.
Overall it's a fun game. Not a ' I'm friggin stuck on this man' with red eyes way, but fun.
Knirps rates this game: 2/5Adventures in the Magic Kingdom is a non-violent action-platformer type game that takes you through areas and levels themed after iconic rides for a fun-filled adventure in a virtual rendition of the Magic Kingdom.
Controls were limited and responsive.
Sound wasn't bad. Music was varied in every area/ride and sounded like it went with the theme.
Graphics were pretty bad on the overview map but in the levels improved greatly. Pretty detailed and colors were nice.
Gameplay is avoidance-based on levels with enemies and I haven't played many games that get this right...this one misses the mark, too. You can not attack at all and instead are given the ability to run, jump, and hide behind objects. Sadly, the enemies are not okay with that and will turn around or path differently solely to block or harass you. I was followed by literally everything that could follow me throughout the ghost area until I made a misstep and was hit...every time I tried.
Another frustrating mechanic was the 'nearly impossible' jumps that came up way too often. You need to jump off when the last pixel of your foot is on the last pixel of the ledge type thing.
I don't even understand how to do the racing game as every time the light turned green, I was instantly failed no matter what I did.
Overall, I was not a fan of this game. I was able to get the silver key (trivia key) and that was it. I thought this would be a fun, light-hearted game but it turned out to be one of the most difficult games I've played so far on the NES.
