MrDanDman rates this game: 3/5Chiller is a port of the arcade game, a shooter like Area 51 Only instead of docking you a life every time you hit an innocent bystander, it rewards you. There are no actual enemies in Chiller, just harmless vermin and a half dozen naked people chained to the walls. You heard me right, naked people chained to the walls. And your job is to torture, maim and kill as many of them as you can within the time limit!
Knirps rates this game: 5/5Chiller is a horror shooting game. One of the most fascinating shooters ever made...or at the very least, the most controversial. A shocker on the surface, this game actually has miles of depth in puzzling, challenging gameplay. The arcade version is much, much better and more gruesome but this port still gets the idea across.
Using the gun accessory, the goal is not just to kill everything on screen with your gun, which proves nearly ineffective on some things, but to instead find the...most interesting way to do so which may instead mean shooting a rope or mechanism to quickly kill the target or reveal a new target.
Graphics are dark, dirty, grim, and gross hovering somewhere around average in general appearance. The flashing, while useful, can get annoying pretty quick.
Sound is straight off a B film horror reel but a bit muted, quality is lessened.
Overall, it's a fun game to play with surprising replayability as you seek out the unique kill actions and hidden items. It's like all my favorite childhood horror movies mashed into one, creepy game.
