Mega Man (USA) [Graphic Hack by Dragonsbrethren v3.0] (~Protoman - The Red Bomber) ROM

A mega man 1 rom is now a protoman 1 rom. A game that includes protoman himself! The game is pretty much the same thing as mega man 1 but insted of mega man your playing as protoman. It as the same simple controls just with protoman. Mega man is on a vaction to japan but whose going to save the world from the evil wily?

Basic change of sprites. You now play Mega Man 1 as Proto Man but in image only.

To make a download like this worth your while, as the hack designer, I would've done minimal things to beef the content up a bit. Make it where when Proto Man jumps, the action makes it look like he pulls up his Proto Shield and change the mechanic so that it would make him either invincible to projectiles or if it is even possible, deflect projectiles. I would've altered the graphic design of the standard mega buster so you feel like you're firing a different weapon. Maybe even make it stronger so it could do cool things like shoot away the bricks only Guts Man's power up can do or go through enemies instead of just hitting them. I would've altered the boss power ups to look unique to Proto Man. Maybe make his supply tanks last longer so when you play as Proto Man you're running around just annihilating bad guys with the cool weapons rather than the buster. I would have suggested beefing up the background sprites so the levels appear more advanced like it was Mega Man made at a later stage of the systems lifespan. I would've also recommended remixing the Midi files to make changes to the original songs. Maybe every time the player hits the pause button, instead of the pause sound, it does Proto Man's signature Whistle Tune.

In the end, this is just Mega Man one with a Proto Man sprite in his place, but to make a truly great Hack, one must do something to change the game play mechanics, other wise it's just like playing a fighting game where your player is just in a different costume. Cool bonus, but not worth the download or a reason to play through the entire game.
